Carlos grew up inside the work on both sides of his family.
Carlos Méndez Blas was born into the mezcal business, the son of two mezcaleros. He trained to become a pilot. Then his father died unexpectedly in 2012, and Carlos came home to the family work.
Today he runs the family palenques with his mother and siblings. His experience does not stop at the still: Carlos understands production, bottling, logistics, and what it takes to move good liquid through the market without letting the quality drift.
That range matters to Tipo Bueno. A serious well mezcal must be clean enough for the glass, consistent enough for a multi-account program, and practical enough to reorder. Carlos knows that “commercial” and “careless” are not synonyms.
